KHR GreenSpace is a community garden project created by the Kirk of the Holy Rood in Grangemouth. We believe that when people grow together, communities grow stronger. This is more than a place to grow vegetables. It is a place where friendships are formed, confidence grows, wellbeing improves, and people from every background are welcomed. Whether you have years of gardening experience or have never planted a seed before, there is a place for you here.

We are transforming underused church land into a welcoming community space where people can:
Meet new friends
Learn new skills
Improve their mental and physical wellbeing
Enjoy nature
Grow fresh food together
Give back to the community
Our dream is to create a space where everyone feels they belong and where every person has something valuable to contribute.
-
Grangemouth is a town with a proud community spirit, but many people experience loneliness, social isolation, financial pressures and poor mental wellbeing.
We also have growing numbers of New Scots, young families and older residents looking for opportunities to connect with others.
KHR GreenSpace is our response.
By gardening together we create natural opportunities for conversation, friendship, learning and mutual support.
The real harvest isn't just vegetables.
It's people.
-
Success isn't measured by the number of vegetables we grow.
Success looks like:
Someone finding friendship after feeling alone.
A volunteer discovering new confidence.
Neighbours getting to know one another.
Different generations working side by side.
New Scots feeling welcomed into the community.
Families benefiting from fresh local produce.
People experiencing hope, purpose and belonging.
These are the things that matter most.
-
The Kirk of the Holy Rood is providing the land, helping to establish the project and bringing people together.
But this is not just a church project.
It is a community project.
We want local residents, volunteers, schools, community groups, businesses and partner organisations to help shape its future.
Together we can create something that belongs to the whole community.
-
We are developing partnerships with organisations that share our vision, including:
Local residents
Community groups
Schools and youth organisations
Environmental organisations
Mental health and wellbeing services
New Scot support organisations
Local businesses
Falkirk Council and other public sector partners
Working together allows us to create a stronger, more sustainable project for everyone.
-
During our first year we hope to:
Build a volunteer team
Recruit a Community Gardener
Prepare the growing space
Begin regular gardening sessions
Hold community events and open days
Introduce food-growing activities for all ages
Develop volunteer Garden Champions
As funding becomes available, we also hope to add raised beds, accessible pathways, seating areas, a polytunnel and other facilities that make the garden welcoming for everyone.
