Lifeβs Special Moments
Celebrating love. Welcoming new life. Remembering those we love. Giving thanks.
There are moments in life when we want to gather, celebrate, give thanks, remember and pray.
At the Kirk of the Holy Rood, we believe that God is present with us through every season of life. Whether you are planning a wedding, thinking about baptism, arranging a funeral or looking for a way to mark a special occasion, we are here to listen, help and pray with you.

Not necessarily. You don't need to be a regular churchgoer or already part of our congregation to get in touch. Life's important moments often bring people to church for the first time. Whether you're considering a wedding, baptism, funeral, thanksgiving or another special service, we'd be happy to talk with you about your circumstances and what might be possible. You don't need to have all the answers. Just start with a conversation.

For the services we offer through the Kirk of the Holy Rood, there is no charge for the church service itself. We don't want cost to be a barrier to marking an important moment in your life. Whether you are celebrating a wedding, bringing a child for baptism, arranging a funeral, or marking another special occasion, please speak with us about your circumstances. We're here to help, not to make things difficult.
-
Yes, you can still get in touch with us about baptism. You don't need to be a regular churchgoer to begin the conversation. Baptism is a significant Christian commitment, so we will invite you to talk with the minister about what baptism means and how you would like to take this step with your child. There is no need to have all the answers before you contact us. The first step is simply to have a conversation. We'd be happy to hear from you.

Yes. We would be delighted to talk with you about having your wedding at the Kirk of the Holy Rood. You don't need to be a regular churchgoer to get in touch. If you are considering a church wedding, contact us and we can explain the requirements, answer your questions and talk through what your wedding service could look like.
-
Yes. The Kirk of the Holy Rood can conduct funeral services at the church, at a crematorium, or in another appropriate setting. If someone you love has died, you can speak with us directly or ask your funeral director to contact the minister on your behalf. We will work with you and your family to plan a service that remembers their life, reflects who they were and offers comfort and Christian hope. You don't have to know what to do next. We're here to help.
-
Absolutely. Life is full of moments worth marking, and not every occasion fits neatly into a list. Whether you are celebrating a significant anniversary, giving thanks for a new beginning, seeking God's blessing at an important moment, or marking a personal or family milestone, we would be happy to talk with you. You don't need to know exactly what kind of service you are looking for. Start with a conversation, and together we can explore what might be appropriate for your occasion.
